Bindaran Puppet Spectacular Visits Perth in April

BINDARAN – meaning the sound of thunder, the stormy weather.

Bindaran will visit Boorloo (Perth) to celebrate the Noongar season ‘Djeran – the season of adulthood when cooler weather begins’. Her presence celebrates the importance of Noongar women’s connection to boodjarak-ngat (country), and represents all the ‘great women across this nation’.

Bindaran is a 6m high, spectacular being, operated by locally trained puppeteers, which you will have the opportunity to walk alongside her as she roams through Forrest Place, stopping to tell the stories shared by a some of our local women (elders), about their connection to boodjarak-ngat, the land, the waters, family, and culture.

This event was organised by NAIDOC Perth in collaboration with the City of Perth, and the amazing ERTH Visual & Physical Inc, the company is recognised internationally as an innovator of physical and visual theatre, driven by special interests in natural history, first nations stories, sociology and urban mythology.
